Dopamine - An Overview

Dopamine

Dopamine is a neuro-transmitter that helps control  the brains reward and pleasure centres. It also helps the brain regulate movement and emotional responses.

Nicotine stimulates the level of dopamine which activates the reward pathways in the brain and triggers a feeling of pleasure and well being.

The acute affects of nicotine stimulating the level of dopamine only lasts a few minutes, leaving the smoker craving another hit many times a day.
